Philosophy of Care
Therapy is a process that is unique to each person and situation. I value collaborative work with my clients to enable my therapeutic knowledge to be most effective in a person’s real life scenario. The best therapy is delivered in a way that is realistic and achievable to someone in that moment. My assistance is only as good as the information people give me- so my number one goal is to build trust and an environment where people can speak their mind/feelings and not worry about judgment. I want to meet you where you are, as you are- please come say hello!

Raphael K. Amir, MA, AMFT, APCC

Philosophy of Care
My approach focuses on people’s strengths, using insight-oriented and mindfulness techniques to help them become more aware of thoughts, feelings, and sensations highlighting behavioral choices to improve their well-being and relationships. I believe that focusing on the “basics” (food, sleep, exercise) are especially important for those having problems coping with life. Clients have mentioned to me that they feel accepted in the therapy relationship, a key component for self-compassion and self-acceptance.

Philosophy of Care
My therapeutic framework creates a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental environment to allow clients to explore their feelings, so they do not have to carry that burden alone. My primary focus is cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can help relieve anxiety, depression, and areas where you may feel stuck. By learning healthy coping or communication skills, people can make their life happier. I believe in the holistic approach to counseling, as all aspects of life influence a client's viewpoint. My multicultural counseling experience allows me to collaborate effectively, finding modalities that work within the client's values. My hope is to provide positive interventions that benefit their life.
